A note for lurkers: In order for this to work, the DisplayAddForm and DisplayEditForms have to be modified so that the nesting orders of the form and table tags are reversed, which is correct in the DOM heirarchy. So just intstalling the new Firefox won't change things. Please make sure you are using source control or have backups before modifying those tags.
Once we make sure we haven't broken anything else by doing this, I will pass the changes on to Adam and David for review. If they bless it, we can maybe post updated tags before the next release.

Hi, Jeff.I experienced the same sore-eye phenom. No, I've abandoned this effort for the time being. I decided this was not my biggest priority. Only a select few will be editing site content anyway, and they can use I.E.And, activeedit works elsewhere with normal submit buttons.If/when I pick up greater fluency with _javascript_ AND I have everything else in my project working the way they must, I may go back to it.
In examining generated _javascript_ object code in the respective browsers, there is a bunch of js generated with I.E. that doesn't exist with firefox. So, something is probably missing in the firefox save _javascript_.I concluded that the cancel and discard buttons work because they are not calling any of the save routines.THanks for getting back to me. I guess we'll keep this one as one of those mysteries of life.By the way, I am SUPER pleased with my choice of PLUM. The investment in learning is paying off handsomely as I've been able to focus much more time on the logic and presentation of my content rather than basic coding.
And, with the model components and custom tags, it makes improvising and extending behaviors SO much easier. I've been able to redo the security component to accommodate my much more complex user tables, and the prototyping of code to manage those tables has saved me huge amounts of time. So far, I've been able to either use off-the-shelf tags and components, or I've been able to fabricate my own from the wonderful models that exist. It's been a wonderful learning tool. Also wonderful are the nifty tools such as the database blocks.I'm really glad I went in this direction. Those Churvis boys are something else!

Subject: Re: [plum] ActivEdit Submit buttons don't work in FirefoxHi Al,
NOW I get what you were talking about. I finally got around to messing with ActivEdit and Firefox, and I see what you mean about the submit buttons not working. Curious that the 'Cancel and go back to list' and 'Discard changes and create new page' buttons will fire, but the others won't. I have looked at the source until my eyes are sore and can't figure it out. Have you made any further progress on this?
Thanks.

I just checked the nesting of those two tags in the output html and everything looks just fine. I even commented out the nested table containing the GIF submit images to see if that would help, to no avail.Actually, this is probably no big deal since the administrators and publishers will be limited in number and they can be instructed to use I.E. for these edits. However, I find it very annoying when I run into sites that don't let me do everything in my browser of choice. Activedit works elesewhere I've tried it with a plain submit button. Thanks for your reply, and let me know what you find out. I'll continue to noodle on this and let you know if I uncover anything.Al

Subject: Re: [plum] ActivEdit Submit buttons don't work in FirefoxHi Al,
I am using ActivEdit on two projects right now, and have the same problem. I have researched the problem, and found a potential fix in the ActivSoftware knowledgebase at the link below. The DisplayAddForm and DisplayEditForm tags appear to have an improperly nested form, so this may be the problem (and it may not be).

I hope to look into this later in the week myself. Right now, since my clients mostly use IE it hasn't been an issue, but I can see where it would be a big deal for you.
HTH,
Jeff

Several weeks ago, I decided to throw in with Plum to revise an old and consequently large and unwieldy web
(http://www.globalschoolhouse.org .
My major concern was adapting plum to my existing user tables (3 major, 3 minor tables)... And much to my satisfaction (and thanks
to very well structured, documented, and obvious components), I've found it easy to adapt all of the authorization security
components. Between this code and the CFMX Bible (thanks Adam, David (and et.al)) I've learned tons about the current state of the
art. (I've downloaded and tried many other "open source" and freeware addons for CF, and have even bought some components, and none
of them have been as slick and well-structured as what's in the Plum kit.)
Thanks Jeff, for your recommendation... Your response was key to my decision.
=======================================
Now for my question:
I asked a few weeks ago about a problem I was having with getting activedit to work. In revisiting this problem I realized I should
have been a bit more specific in my question. Therefore, I'm resubmitting with more detail.
I negelected to mention that Activedit works fine inside Plum forms with a plain submit button in both I.E. and Firefox.
However, I'm trying to integrate it as well in the built-in Plum Content Editor at
admin/content/PlumContentItemEditForm.cfm which has the nice gif submits at the bottom of the page (save and create new page, etc).
The _javascript_ that performs those functions works fine in I.E., but won't perform any action in Firefox: no errors, no alerts. Has
anyone else listening in gotten activedit to work with this content editor page?
Thanks for any insights.
Al
