There is Devel::Leak in CPAN that proports to check for some kinds
of leaks. There are also the tracing malloc implimentations like
dmalloc and the U of Toronto version available as devel/libmalloc
in the freebsd ports collection. But that requires re-compiling
perl and is probably too low level anyway. The FreeBSD version of
malloc has some runtime tuning hooks including an option 'U' that
causes it to generate data that can be reported by ktrace.
