For the record, Jeremy is the one who reported this bug the first time. And in both cases, he's using Windows Tablet Edition. I lack Windows Tablet edition to test on, therefore I can't help debug. It's a standard Nullsoft install. There's nothing magical about it. : As a side note, a competent Windows maintainer for Polipo is *badly* : needed. If you understand the difference between mscvrt and a fish, if you : know how to write an installer that doesn't hose users' systems, and you : are willing to contribute some of your time to Polipo -- we need you. The installer I wrote is the exact same as the one written for Tor and Vidalia. Neither of those installers, nor the OSX installer for that matter, "hose users' systems". The installer appears to work acceptably well, the problem is Polipo can't handle the Windows naming structure due to spaces. The installer code, and my other modifications, are available at https://svn.torproject.org/svn/tor/trunk/contrib/polipo/. I welcome patches. Yes, Polipo needs better Windows' maintenance. Over a year ago I offered to personally fund a contract developer to make Polipo work in Windows, however this offer fell on deaf ears. Perhaps if you work with the Tor Project, they can help find funding for better Windows compatibility to Polipo. As for now, throwing barbs that the Windows installer sucks, because one user has problems, isn't conducive to growing the Polipo developer community. However, it's your project, do with it what you will. -- Andrew ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email is sponsored by the Moblin Your Move Developer's challenge Build the coolest Linux based applications with Moblin SDK & win great prizes Grand prize is a trip for two to an Open Source event anywhere in the world http://moblin-contest.org/redirect.php?banner_id=100&url=/ _______________________________________________ Polipo-users mailing list [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/polipo-users
