"That she did do. Karen pretended to be you and I fell for it because I wanted you back and she knew it. She knew she would be the closest thing to you that I would be able to have at that moment." Why did this have to be brought up? And why did Alex and Julia even talk about it. Why couldn't it just be forgotten?

Julia smiled quietly and reached up to lightly touch his face, her fingertips peeking out from the over-large sweatshirt she was wearing before she settled her forehead against his as she got to the point of why Karen had been brought up -- at least partially, as the personal part of it, because it was obvious Nick wasn't comfortable talking about the situation at all, remained unspoken.

"Kat said she had seen a woman that looked like me... but wasn't.  Heaven help the woman if she shows up now," she mock growled, sneaking him a look before lowering her gaze down to their laps  "But that is the only person I can think of that would fit the bill.  Promise me you'll be careful."   She looked at him again, her eyes troubled "You'd know if she tried... faking me again, wouldn't you?"

He had known it was her without the physical proof some of the people had needed.  Wouldn't he know if it wasn't really her if someone were to try and fool him again?
