Patrick heard the tone in their daughter's voice and looked at Rachel, a
little worried at her silence. They were going to have to explain to Kat
that he wasn't back like she might be thinking.. but he was there to help
and would continue to be around, especially like this with Julia's help.

I tried to pull myself out of the mood I had sunk into, I didn't want Kat to
be hurt when Patrick left...and I knew that was inevitable. "Kat, you're
daddy never left...you know that, but things won't ever be the way they
were." I slipped my arm around her to lessen the blow of my words, "but
sometimes...maybe...he'll visit with us a while." I looked up at Patrick
with a small smile, "and he'll always love us, as we love him."
