This was something Derek was willing to agree with readily. He wasn't going
to question the instincts of Alex or Julia. Also, he had kept Kat with him
all afternoon and really did not mind the idea of a break much at all.
"That's fine, she'd been in there before. I'll see if I can track down
Milo." Amongst other things.
Julia gave a half smile, her gaze following Kat as she got a little ahead of
them and without really thinking about what she was doing she Reached out to
her {{Kat, wait up... you're getting a little ahead of us}}
Then to Derek verbally "Thanks. And the points are recalibrated so I'll go
ahead and take Kat in for a scoop of ice-cream and then start on the
upgrades."
She inwardly sighed but kept the same distracted half-smile in place. Julia
knew Derek probably wanted an excuse to leave anyway and in a way could
understand why. But even as she was giving him an out, she admitted to
herself that if given a choice she would have liked to spend more time with
him... like they were this morning in the office or on the ride to the house
when he had opened up about himself and talked about his family.
"And I promise," she added with a wry curve of her lips and shook her head
humorously "No spooky files for Kat. She already sneaks in too many monster
movies as it is."
She saw Kat coming back and tilted her head to the side, offering her the
next set of plans "How about we hang out and get some ice-cream while Derek
goes off and works, then go to the computer room to do some hi tech goofing
off?"
Julia had used the term 'computer room' on purpose as they were out in the
open and it having always been her habit when outside with chance of being
overhead. Now she stuck her hands back into her pockets and looked at the
two for them to verify where and what they were going to do, her own dark
eyebrows raised in question and patiently waiting.
