Derek:
Derek turned over the things he had to do in his mind. There seemed to be
so many of them. He decided it would start with Milo, however there was a
book about Psychokenetic phenomenon that might be helpful with his daughter.
He decided to retrieve that first. As he opened the door to the library he
immediately had the sense that he was not alone. Even though he couldn't
see the "person" inside immediately, he just sensed the presence. He looked
around expecting to see Philip or one of the those, however what he saw made
him stop in his tracks for a moment. He hadn't recalled hearing anything
about the painting producing the actual Angel himself. But there was no
doubt that the man standing on the second story balcony was the same man in
the portrait. They were identical, well almost identical. Derek's mind ran
through all the possibilities. Perhaps, the painting produced the real
thing when there were no people for whatever it was to possess. The man
though formiddable was not threatening, though Derek thought he could be and
had been at other times. Derek climbed the stairs to the second level his
gaze moving from the painting to the man and back. Finally he folded his
arms across his chest and spoke. "Now I know upgrading the security system
is a good idea," there was not malice in his voice, just a statement of
fact. Whatever or whoever this was had slipped through unnoticed by the
sensors.
