Jane:
Jane took a seat beside the younger woman and listened to her as she
described the dreams in detail. "Well, we don't exactly go purely on
scientific theory around here anyway," she pointed out. "A lot of what we
do is based on gut feelings, particularly the ones that we find hardest to
shake. They are not always right, but sometimes they are." She gazed at
the monitors mounted before her thoughtfully for a few moments. "What did
you find out when you checked up on them?"
NM:
Kristen laughed a little, more at the sheer relief that she finally was
able to talk to someone about the dreams and all of her feelings.
"Actually, everything looks fine from here. The system is completely
online and I can't find one thing that signals any problems they might be
having...except, it looks like someone has been working on upgrading the
security system. It could simply be preventative measures, but Jane, I'm
worried. And I guess I don't completely trust these things," Kristen
gestured to the variety of high-tech computers in front of the two women.
She took a deep breath and looked directly at Jane with determination. "I
want to go to San Francisco. I know I've been a pain in the past, wanting
all the freedom to travel and search for answers about my father, but this
is different. I can't shake the feeling that something is happening to them
out there, and maybe I can help. In fact, I know I could help if I was
there. Besides," Kristen gave Jane a small, lop-sided smile, "I just want
to see with my own eyes that the House is still there!"
