"I've also had another concern about us." This was not going to be easy,
not at all. He took in another breath, keeping his eyes steadily on hers as
the ferry moved smoothly almost imperceptibly across the bay. "I am old
enough to be your father," he stated matter of factly. "I don't know if
that factors into any of your worries or not, but...it has played a role in
mine." This was not easy for him to say at all.
Age? she blinked, her lips parting in mild surprise before she reached up
and put her hand over his and then reached over to hold his cheek with her
other one.
"No you aren't." she corrected him softly "My father is ten years your
senior.
"And there is no way I could even think of you as a father figure, Derek."
she ran the pad of her thumb beneath his bottom lip before meeting and
keeping his gaze, her lips curving a little crookedly, happily "Sorry but
age doesn't mean a damn thing to me."
She wondered if she should tell him that her mother had been five years
younger than her daughter when she had met her husband and decided she'd
just dig up their wedding album later.
Julia stroked Derek's cheek. The way she felt for him wouldn't change no
matter how old he was and she hoped he could see it in her gaze.
"Thank you." she whispered, knowing it hadn't been easy for him to admit
such a personal concern, even to her, and felt even closer to him now than
she had before. And she was telling the truth - she hadn't even thought
about it and even now, hearing it being brought up, she could care less
about it. She hoped it was something he could work through though. Age or
not he was still the sexiest, kindest, intelligent..... Like she said, she
would still feel the same about him.
He had said 'worries' though. She raised a quiet, curious eyebrow, not
wanting to push it but giving him the opportunity to voice them if he was
ready to.
