Sam smiled and tapped her glass against his.  "May it all work out the way
it is supposed to," she said.  Which for her probably meant being alone.  At
least if the past was any indication of the way things were supposed to go.
"I'm trying to decide," she said thoughtfully, "if marrying my ex was
actually something I regret.  It was doomed to failure, but...."
