Derek nodded, "yes, we called over there earlier this morning. Kat had a
rather fitful night, but she seems to be doing well. She is going to stay
down there and help Nurse Brody look after her mother, at least until the
nurse decides she need to come back here."
Julia wanted to see Kat, but remembered what Rachel had said. Admittedly,
it was said by a mother scared to death for the health of her child. Julia
had a new insight into this and, without thinking, brought her empty hand to
the flat of her stomach. In Rachel's place she would have done everything
she could to get out of there and go find her baby.. her and Derek's baby.
She would have killed the person that had taken her if need be.
Her gaze rose and met Derek's before she swallowed and looked at the others.
She would have to come to terms with Rachel and she was sure that, with
time, the other woman would be able to forgive her for what had happened.
At least Julia prayed she would.
"Well..." she started, pulling her thoughts from her reverie and looking at
the two that waited as she held out her hand to Derek "I... that is, we.."
Her cheeks turned a warm pink and she chewed her bottom lip as she peeked at
Derek and then blurted out "We're going to have a baby."
