Alex looked at her, dying of curiosity, even as she started in on her
friend's hair and took out a set of rollers to start rolling it.

"You're not going to tell me what that was about, are you?" she asked.

"Nope." Julia continued to grin. It took a while but her hair was finally
rolled and she looked at Alex suspiciously "You take a picture of me like
this and I'll make sure to get you back."

The phone rang just then and she jumped up and ran over to it, picking it up
and looking at Alex as she listened to what was being said.

"Thanks!" she managed before hanging up and, with blue eyes alight at what
was being delivered to the door made a dash for the bedroom door and out,
leaving Alex to catch up with her if she could as she headed down to meet
the Shoppe keeper.

She opened the door and greeted the man with a wide grin.

"You did it!" Julia kissed the man's cheek in excitement as he gave her the
oak box that took both hands to hold as he passed it over to him. Then,
with him returning her grin and offering to hold the box, Julia opened the
box to look at the contents inside... which was nestled inside another but
smaller oak box.

She lifted the first object and looked at the jeweler, who urged her to open
it further.

She pressed the button/latch on top of the object and looked at the inside
cover.

There is was, in a perfect engagement, the words she had written. Julia
smiled and traced her finger across the engraved words 'Now is the time for
Destiny, Love Julia'. She remembered what Derek had said that perhaps their
relationship was Destiny. Considering everything that's happened, Julia had
to agree.

She closed the cover to the original Marcum pocket watch and ran her fingers
over the hand engraved piece of art. The Marcum collection was a set all
it's own. The watch maker never made a replica of his pocket watches and
there were only 7 in existence.

"It's perfect." She couldn't stop smiling, even as Alex caught up and was
able to at least see the boxes at the angel she was looking from. Julia
held the watch close for a moment and then set it back in its casing,
lifting out the velvet pouch that held the other item.

Again, the jeweler waited, smiling even more at her obvious pleased response
as she opened the pouch and drew that item out.

"You managed to get it in here too!" Julia breathed, reading the shorter
version of the inscription in the band that went with the same design as the
pocket watch "Oh this is above and beyond.."

She put the ring back in the pouch and slipped the pouch in the pocket of
the robe she was wearing before gently closing the solid oak boxes, one
after the other. Not that they needed the attention but the object inside
just drew that much awe from her as she then accepted the box from him and
looking back and at Alex. She needed a tip!

"No no.. consider this a wedding present." The Shoppe keeper said, guessing
what it was she was after as he gave the ladies a wave and turned to leave
"May your day be joyous and be the first of a very long and loving marriage.

Julia watched him leave and then turned to Alex "I have to see Derek, it's
for him."
