Derek watched Amber leave and took hold of Kat by the shoulder propelling
her to Rachel.

Kat looked down at her feet not meeting her mother's eyes.

"Rachel," Derek said firmly, it was clear in his gaze that he expected her
to do something about this situation.  And if she didn't he certainly would,
regardless of the fact that he was not her parent.

"I'm going to sit with Julia," he told everyone around him in general and
headed for the sitting room.
