Boston was 3,000 miles away. If something really was happening there, it
was very likely it would be over in a week, which is how long it would take
for her to drive there. "Just be sure that you and Amanda stay in decent
hotels along the way."

take out the cellphone and dial a number before putting it to her ear.
"Hi, I'd like to book a flight to Boston to leave in..." she looked at her
watch "One hour"
