"I love you," Derek told her holding her closely. Her next question was not
one he really wanted to answer.
"It's not as bad as it looks," he told her by way of an answer. That of
course had yet to be seen, since there hadn't
been time to really have it checked by anyone, even himself. He did give a
slight affirmative nod of his head.
Julia stiffened and then stood, leaning on him a little but more on her own
two feet by the moment. She rubbed her fingers together and closed her eyes
before opening them again and directing them both toward the opening. She
wanted out of there and made sure she was on his uninjured side, laying her
head against his shoulder as they moved.
Of course, that changed as soon as they got out and she caught sight of the
woman now in Frank's custody. Julia was still a little unsteady on her feet
but what Megan had done and tried to do to her and her family.......
"You." She said, her voice filled with steel as she slipped out from under
Derek's arm and started toward the woman "You lied to me, you used my
brother to get me here, you gave my friend a concussion, you stick us in a
vault to suffocate.."
Each word was said hard and she came closer at each instance, blue gaze
filled with cold anger "You endanger my baby and then try and shoot my
husband --"
Julia pulled back her right arm and then hauled off with a right cross that
met Megan square in the jaw and sent the other woman reeling to the floor.
"You EVER come near my family again......." Julia promised, the anger she
was feeling the thing that kept her standing and ignoring the
lightheadedness she still felt.
She was shaking and Frank picked Megan up and turned to stick her in a
police squad car, looking at both Julia and Derek with his own grim
determination.
Julia could have done far worse but she turned to Derek, her gaze falling on
his arm as she wrestled with the emotion and keeping both him and Amelia in
mind. He had to be looked at... and they had to make sure Amelia was okay.
And Julia..... Julia had to lay down before the room started spinning again.
