"Good morning Kristin," Derek said. "Did you sleep well?"
"I've had better nights," she admitted with a wry grin. "Though the morning does hold promise once I have some juice and coffee." Kristin figured Derek had more reasons behind his call than to ask how she slept, and she knew Jane would have told her if it had been otherwise, but... "How is everyone there?" the demon had been taken care of-she just wanted to make sure no one had been hurt in the process. "Fine...now," Derek told her. "I'm glad to hear your day is looking brighter and I am sorry to disturb you before you've had your morning coffee." Of course he hadn't had his either, so he wasn't that sorry. "But I needed to catch you when I had the chance. Kristin you are more than welcome to come back to San Francisco. However, if you choose to do so it must be as a member of this house. If you can not make that committment then do not get on the plane." He did not mean to sound harsh, but he had just awakened, with a slight headache, and he had not had his coffee. So, even on a happy subject he was likely to sound cranky.
