Philip swallowed and lowered his gaze. That had been something he
 hadn't
told her: His opinion concerning what had truly killed Ethan.
 Perhaps now
would be the right time to say.

"Kristin, I, well I am going te tell you something and I hope ye
 don't take
offense." he said before looking up and meeting her gaze "But it is
 not th'
Legacy that killed Ethan. It was the darkness they fight. That we
 fight.
Ye cannae go on blaming somethin' that's not at fault. Reed Horton
 made the
choice to kill and him alone, in service of the evil we all fight."

Startled, Kristin considered his words a moment, then spoke slowly.
"I suppose I didn't look at it in that way." Looking past Philip, she
swallowed once, hard. "I was so...angry, and hurt. I guess I needed
someone or something to blame; and just blaming myself wasn't doing the
trick."

Noticing how tightly she was clenching her hands together, she
deliberately pulled them apart and rested her arms on the table,
leaning forward. If she looked at the situation the way Philip was
describing it, then maybe she still had work to do; if she looked past
the Legacy being at fault, and straight to the darkness behind all of
the manipulations...then no matter what they had done to Reed, or
Church, or any of their enemies in a way, didn't matter. There was
still the evil to fight against.

Anger bubbled up once more. Revenge might not be the best reason for
her actions, but maybe for now, it would do.

Looking back to Philip, she wondered; if she did stay with the
Legacy, could she really work and live with him so closely and not ever
step over the line?
