Derek tightened his arms around her a bit more in response. "She wasn't always like that," he told her. "She could be pushy when it came to something she wanted, but the woman I knew wouldn't have done what she did to you. I must have missed some sign that she had changed."
Julia smiled, tinged with some sadness, and replied "Then remember her like that and we'll make sure she gets help."
