Derek was suddenly beginning to realize why they did this separately. Though if they got together to compare notes anyway, he did not see the point. He wondered how best to answer the question without getting himself in trouble.
"No nothing unusual." he said. Julia chuckled and slipped her hand into his "My mood swings weren't sudden or unusual, they happened the same way they always do." The doctor smiled and went on "This is the part that usually has the husbands turning rather.... red in the face, so if you don't feel like answering them Mister Rayne, I won't hold it against you. Julia, have you and your husband been intimate during your pregnancy? And, before you answer, I want both of you to know why you're being asked these types of questions. We have noticed that, in studies involving post pardum depression that in all the cases the lack of intimacy, whether actual or intentional, had faltered off and that, in many cases, the father had all but lost any kind of interest in their wives during this time. The wife, in turn, falls into a depression that initiates what later manifests itself into this type of depression because it continues afterwards as well, leaving the woman feeling despondent, undesirable or unwanted. So please, we are only trying to monitor and make sure that everything about the pregnancy is the best it can be." Makes sense, Julia thought before asking honestly "That depends on your definition of intimacy. I mean aside from the general one which is yes." The doctor raised her eyebrow and Julia continued "Well, waking up next to him, having him remind me to take my vitamins, getting ready for the day with him, in the middle of the day just popping in for no other reason than to say hi and talk to Amelia...." She grinned a little and squeezed Derek's hand gently "Even raiding his feet space when we go to bed.. with him it just all feels intimate." Dr. Campbell smiled at the answer, nodding as she made notes in Julia's folder and adding to the question although it was obvious what the answer would be "So you don't feel that he's grown uninterested in you.. fallen out of love?" Julia actually blinked at that and answered "Derek? That wouldn't happen for either of us, ever." Campbell looked at Derek, giving him an opportunity to answer if he wanted to.
