She then put her hand into his, but the unspoken promise was there. There would be some payback to who or whatever hurt Derek - no matter who or what that thing was.
Soulchaser closed his eyes and mentally reached into Julia, finding her bond with the Precept. It was still strong, despite their separation. Unlike the Soulchaser's own senses, the bond could not be blocked by the Demon's incantation. He (figuratively) traveled through the link, and sure enough, Derek Rayne was at the end. "He's alive," Soulchaser told Julia, knowing that that was her first concern. "He doesn't seem to be badly hurt." Opening his mind's eye Soulchaser saw that he now had a full view of Derek's prison. "He's in a cave, probably close by," he said as he looked (in the metaphorical sense) over to see that he was not alone. "Kristin is with him, theyre both chained to the wall." Unfortunately, he couldnt tell the location of the cave, and considering how many caves, caverns and crevices there were in this area, they would never find him in time, going cave to cave. He needed some kind of clue. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw one. Pulling his hand from Julia's touch, all of Simon's consciousness returned to his physical body. "The only clue I could get was a cave drawing; some kind of white wolf." "White wolf?" Bryce asked, immediately digging into his bag.. "I know that drawing! I shot my first National geographic spread there." He pulled out a dog eared piece of paper and unfolded it to reveal a hand drawn map of the area. His friend Kyle Redcrow had given it to him a long time ago, it showed the location of several caves important to Kyle's tribe, with names given to them based on the drawings that he had seen within. After deducing their location on his map Bryce pointed to the north. "White Wolf cave is about half a mile that way," Bryce said. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
