I don't really mind about XP systems. But since I had to type the staff below for another forum anyway today (they did not find the information) here a copy of it with minor changes. Brucexs might forgive me that I used his forum off topic. Never again - promissed! ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Check out the following Microsoft links. They are in German but with so many pictures that you will understand - excellent documentation - hard to believe: Win95+98: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;de;836594 >>>use the ramdisk they recommend at the end - not their own!!! and set it to XMSDSK 10240 U: /C2 /T /Y My ramdisk letter is U and I am using 10240 kb /C2 is the best compromise in respect of space (cluster size) and performance - at my pc WinXP: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;de;834886 Here one more for the useless XP in English: http://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=131 and many more if you search the Internet for ramdisk and internet etc. Don't define it too big. 10 MB should be MORE than enough. But you can check at the end of a session how much was used - just check the free space of the ramdisk - it show up pretty much like a normal disk in the system explorer. But IExplorer uses the ramdisk too if it downloads files with its popup download. So if you do not use a download manager where this is not relevant think about this. Then the file size you download cannot be bigger than the ramdisk size. But again - only if you use the internal download of IExplorer Do not put your normal TEMP-folder on the ramdisk as recommended on some sites!!! Many programs put information there when they get installed and expect to find it after a reboot! Much fun! ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Yahoo!
