There is (or was at least) an option to be able to set (I thought it was for
timers) the ability to be able to tell timers to either use an internal
counter (which would not be as accurate if you had periods of high CPU time)
or to have timers calculate from the windows time (which stays in sync with
the BIOS clock) and isn't affected by what's happening with the system.

I tried finding that option, but couldn't find it...but you might try and
find that, see if that makes a difference. See if someone else remembers
where that is.
