Hi Alan,

There is something I want to know your opinion about
before asking to Bruce.

Well, I hesitated to suggest this, since I was one of the
voters for \ and not sure about whether it requires a further
work to Bruce. He's already done a lot of work, more than
needed: perfect support "/" as a path delimiter, ?c...c,
ESC(...,_esc_) etc regarding the escape characters.
However, as far as I can see, it seems to require no further
work to Bruce. But, it might require much work to others.

What I want to suggest is a new poll about the escape char
again! :) However, at this time:

<null> as the escape char

1) Newbies often seem to miss the need of the escape char
2) " to be escaped seems to be easily done with ?c...c
3) There seems actually no need to escape the expression
follow char &. PP seems to handle them perfectly well, I mean,
PP knows well whether & is the expression char or just
a normal char.
4) \r \n \t \xnn \dnnn: These can be readily escaped
using ESC(...,_esc_). Well, at least they will be needed
only when sharing with others, and I don't think it will
become much work to enclose them in ESC(...,_esc_) when
sharing.
The only trouble seems to be "\+", but I saw "\+" omitted
in the help file anyway.

What is your opinion? Is it too late?

Sean
