Does clipmate handle copies to and pastes from the clipboard of application data, say some cells from an Excel work sheet or a piece of a Visio diagram, even when the corresponding program is shut down after the clipboard operation occurs?
Yes, although it depends on the format. A clipboard entry can consist of multiple formats, which can be retrieved from multiple applications. For example, a copy from Excel has a format for Excel and another format for Notepad. The data will persist if Excel is closed, or even if the system is shut down. ClipMate stored Clipboard enteries into its database. In previous versions, it would use files. Anyway, I'm afraid its too much work for me to consider this type of expansion for the general case for now. It would be possible to write a plugin as a clipboard monitor, if someone wanted to do that. That would be my suggestion. From the standpoint of an end user, I don't think extending the clipboard is an easy task once you get away from text.
