The point of this rhetoric is not to encourage you to go out and buy the newest and the best, but again to put the blame for Sonnet's incompatibility with commonly used software on other manufacturers. The "10%" problem was Apple's, not theirs, which is like a tire company demanding Ford or VW to make cars to fit their sloppily made tires. I have finally given up dealing with the Frankenbook, and after selling some stocks, I put my order in for a DVD/CDRW iBook. TechTools tells me that since its birth a little over three years ago, my 1400cs has been working about ten hours a day. The screen is beginning to fade, the keys are sticking arbitrarily, and now the CD is asking me if I want to initialize a DOS disk even though there is nothing in the drive. The "c" is worn off its key, and the space bar is shiny and worn like marble steps to an ancient church. This computer has two theses to its credit, has prepared a book for publication, and is working still on a second. But it is time for retirement... The new machine will be bright and pretty, but it won't have a soul yet, like this 1400 does. I would like to sell off the upgrade card on eBay, but it is going to be tricky to come up with an honest text that won't frighten away every potential bidder. Since I will not be working as much with the 1400, my posts will come less often, unless there is some bit of knowledge I can share. So I would like to thank everyone for their ideas, comments, and suggestions since I have been a subscriber to the list.
