If you could get the case apart and make the fuse easily accessible, it's
about a 5 minute job to solder.
Do you have a local Mac Users Group? I'll bet you can find someone who would
do it for you for free if you went to them and brought all the parts. I sure
would if you were a tad closer to Seattle. '-)
Even an electronics store or computer repair place shouldn't charge you more
than $10 to do this job. Remember, I said shouldn't, not wouldn't.

No. If it's only the fuse, it would be better to fix it and to find a new
power supply.

Don't know that one.

Soldering is fun. It takes about 5 minutes to learn, and maybe an hour to do
relatively well unless you have a natural feel for it. I soldered and taught
soldering for 8 years and loved it. It's cheap; a low wattage iron goes for
less than $10 at Radio Shack, and i'll bet you can find a junk board to
practice on somewhere. You'll need rosin core solder, and solderwick to do a
nice job. There must be little handbooks if you don't have someone to teach
you, or I'll bet that directions are somewhere on the net.
If not, feel free to email me and we can go from there. This is not a big
deal, and you can do it.
