Connecting as dock should get your the scrolling SCSI logo.

The '?' you get means that the 'book cannot find a scsi device to boot
from. When this appears as a result of connecting a new scsi device it
is because of one of two things: SCSI ID conflict or bad termination.

Make sure that the Reno drive is set to a different ID than the HDD in
the 'book (this will be 0 if it is a stock HDD)

Next make sure that termination is on, either as an external terminator,
or that the termination switch on the device is set to on. (don't know
what your Reno has, mine has two DIP switches inside the SCSI connector
module that set termination, I believe)
