While it is much-maligned in Mac circles, Word 6 serves me very well as a word processor on my PowerBook 5300/40mb ram, used in conjunction with Word 2000 for Windows on a desktop PC. You do need to download an extra filter to open documents saved as Word 2000, but it's my impression that Word 6 has better compatibility w/Word 2000 than does Word 5 (for cross-editing, not just viewing), but I could be wrong (anyone know for sure?). I also like many of the features added since Word 5, e.g. auto-correct, auto-save/recover, etc. It is significantly slower than Word 5--using the scroll bar can be painful--but it includes a PowerBook toolbar with very handy navigation buttons. It launches no slower than NisusWriter (the free version). I don't know how the speed compares to Word 98--perhaps someone who has experience with both could tell us. If you don't need the extra features or increased compatibility w/later editions of Word, though, Word 5 is definitely better. -- _______________________________________________ Sign-up for your own FREE Personalized E-mail at Mail.com http://www.mail.com/?sr=signup
