Normally the 1400 has 8 megs on the motherboard. There are two memory expansion slots, both custom slots. The first slot is called the Factory expansion slot, and only takes an 8 meg expansion card. Most 1400s shipped with the extra 8 megs of Factory memory included. If your 1400 doesn't have one, you might consider getting one off of E-bay. The second slot is the User expansion slot, and can take up to 48 megs of memory. The 1400 design allows for two "stackable" memory cards, however a design quirk makes many stackable cards from different makers, incompatible with each other. Many sellers offer a "48 meg kit" which is two 24 meg stackable cards. > B. The Power Adapter that it came with is dead dead dead, and I >want to know if using the power adapters from other powerbooks would charge >the battery. ( I have tried othe adapters, they allow the laptop to power >up, but even after 48 hours, the battery is still not charged, and the OS >says the battery is not charging,. ) The 1400, 2400, G3 series can all us the same adapter. However, the newer iBooks and Ti-books use a new power adapter with a different connector. > C. Upgrade options for the processor. What can I expect to get the >processor in here up to, 604e? Currently, Sonnet is the only company which is making G3 upgrades for the 1400 (one of the few early Powerbooks which can take a processor upgrade). There are several other 1400 upgrades made by other comapanies, which can be found on E-bay. - Ron. -- PowerBooks is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
