Hi I really need your help with my power book 520. I have an external 9gb drive with 8.0 on it. I wanted to reinstall my PB 8.1 with the 8.0 and then upgrade to 8.1 everyone with me so far? I booted to my external 8.0 and wiped my PB drive clean. I installed the 8.0 and 8.1 on my PB. I then went to start disk and this time told it to boot from my PB instead of the external.
When my PB starts I get the little Mac icon and then Wham, yes wham! I get the following: " This start up disk will not work on this Macintosh model. use the latest installer to update this disk for this model" Hmm now what do I scrap her? say no, is there a "hard kill for this hard drive? then I could get 7.5 on floppy and reload it? I don't think it will see a floppy, is there a mac boot/repair floppy out there? I have spent three months and $250 to get this "free" laptop up and I love it now, Ya it's slow, has no hard drive space, Black and white display, but I really love it! I can only check my web based email on it but I really have grown attached to it. Please help me aughgh!
