Well... thats a little trickier ;-) The PRAM battery is a small internal battery which retains configuration settings for your computer while you have it powered down. Replacing it involves taking your Power Book apart, locating the battery, detaching/unplugging it, plugging in a new one, and then reassembling everything. I know that in the Powerbook 3400, it's fairly easy to get to the Pram battery. Basically you just need to get the keyboard off. I thought I heard someone mention that the 1400 was a little more complicated and involved more effort. I could be thinking of a different model though.. I've honestly never seen the internals of a 1400. Every model is different, some require more labor, some require less... If the battery involves disassembling a good portion of your system and you don't feel comfortable with that, it's probably best if you let someone do it professionally... Although it's liable to run you in the neighborhood of $100. (If you did it yourself, battery's range from $9-$30 depending on which system you have.) If you suspect your PRAM battery could be low, try leaving your machine plugged in and powered on for 24-36 hours. While your machine is physically running, it will attempt to trickle charge the PRAM. A lot of times doing this will bring some life back to a weak battery. If it's really to far gone though, replacement is the only solution. Cheers, Sionnach __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? LAUNCH - Your Yahoo!
