Hi I am listerning

First do you have the pdf manual for the 5300. if not get it for
www.apple.com on the support pages for older powerbooks.

Yes the monitor connector and the powersupply on the 5300 are in roughly the
same area. but if the movement of the power cord causes a restart then you
will probably find that the connector for the power supply on the
motherboard has come loose and needs a bit of solder.

If you do not need to strip the screen plastics i would not as these are
very fragile. Also when seperating the rest of the case plastics try not to
brake any of the connectors like little D shapes. as for the rest the 5300
is a dream to open and work in not many hidden areas.

I totaly stripped out and re fitted the entire plastic case and all the
internals and new case stiffener in less than two hours. because i had the
time and no interuptions. it is that easy.

But get the pdf first and if you are not sure dont start.
