Thanks, Tom. Your answers brought me down to earth. I usually use a Beige G3 that I worked hard to upgrade to 400 MHz with 768 MB Ram. In trying to buy a 'modern' powerbook (I saw on dealsontheweb.com that a 2001 iBook listed at $1200 went for $750 at a Microcenter store in Houston a few weeks ago) I must have been dreaming. Then last week Apple says 10.5 (Jaguar) needs 32 MB or more of Video Ram (the week before they released iBooks with only 16 MB). Now a deal comes along and I need answers fast for the 3400. How do you use your 3400 ? I don't plan any upgrades unless they're dirt cheap. Linux does work, in case I'm nostalgic for OSX. I'm tempted to change the Cardbus cage myself, provided no soldering is involved. There must be a source for them. Is there a 'free' PCI slot (I read somewhere)? And does it hold, among other cards, a Rocket Micro something? I'm hoping all the manuals are included. I'll let you all know how it turns out (lucky you!).
