Theoretically, if you really wanted too... it should work on the 3400 as well as the 3500... You need to load Darwin (Open Source) on the 3400 and update the kernel to rewrite some of the Motherboard drivers... I found some stuff on this on the internet awhile back and had contemplated putting it on mine. A few listers responded that it would likely be rather slow (which i don't doubt), and thinking it through... I really didn't see the point for what I'm running, so I never tried it. I'm not disappointed, and I have been running 8.6 ever since, although lately I've been thinking of upgrading to OS 9 to run a couple pieces of software I've found that require OS 9 or OS X... by the time I'm ready to make the jump to OS X, I'll likely just buy a new Powerbook, or, if I'm on a budget, a used Wallstreet...
