George made a good suggestion... How about the partition type on the drive. Doesn't OS 9 require the "extended" type partition? (Sorry, it's early here - the Mac lingo is escaping me and I'm nowhere near anything running Mac OS :-) ) Perhaps it may require a reinitialization so that you can change the partition type???
