I tried the desktop PC with a 500mhz Pentium, 128 mb ram, and the speeds for downloading a Quicken portfolio were 16.7-24.0 K/sec. With the PB 3400 the same download achieved speeds of 3.4-5.5 K/sec. I can only figure that the biggest part of the difference is the ethernet card. 100Bt on the desktop and 10Bt on the PB. There is some speed difference from the CPU speed, but won't account for very much speed difference. I think that I will buy the 16 bit Macsense 10/100 card and see if that makes a lot of difference in speed as I think that it might. Thanks for all the help.
