I second Bruce Johnson's comments: I have the same setup for the 5300 with the
addition of the VST internal Zip drive. I download pictures from my digital
camera each night or so to a Zip disk. The Zip disk is readable by my DOS Zip and
I use DOS formatted blank Zip disks on the Mac to store pictures on. I have the
PCMCIA port reader to get the pictures and then save them to the Zip disk. One
nice neat package to carry along! Readers in the PCMCIA ports can read
Smartmedia cards and a few other cards. Make sure you are using a digital camera
for which there is a compatible PCMCIA reader made. I also have my 5300 hooked
for ethernet and for modem use when at home and when traveling. I use 8.6. The
small footprint of the 5300 and the versatility are perfect for those uses.
