I'm probably at the point where I need to do this (reinstall the system in
some fashion) . I don't understand your " Boot from the OS CD, and trash
just the System Suitcase file and the Finder file and then do a reinstall
". Do you mean, boot from the OS CD, install everything anew with a custom
install except for the system suitcase and finder? Or Trash the system
suitcase file and finder from your own computer harddrive while booted from
the CD and then install with a regular install from the OS CD, which I think
leaves all your extensions and preferences intact? I think the clean install
gives you a completely new system and then you have to move your preferences
over yourself. I'm considering going to 9.2, because I have a CD for that
one, whereas I don't have one for 9.1. the 9.2 CD gives you the option of a
clean install.
