There are also several web based tools that can read POP and IMAP4 mail accounts.  I 
personally like mail2web.  It shows the headers and the size of the e-mail so you can 
delete what you want, and it keeps the mail on your server so you can download it with 
your regular client (even if you read your mail on mail2web).  It's free, they have a 
secure login option, and they are located at:

I use POP Monitor daily. You can see the headers of messages on the server before 
downloading them, read or delete them if you want without downloading them, and the 
latest version (shareware, $25) will send bounce messages, and has the ability to 
create filters.

Between POP Monitor and Spamcop, I report spam when I want and never download it 
except by accident occasionally.
