A better tool seems to be the Ungar "hair dryer" for replacing SMDs/desoldering pins without toasting/lifting the foil off the mobo. I saw it listed in a high end (not Radio Shack's) electronics equipment catalog (Slaughton's). The local PC/Mac shop I send my monitors and power supplies for component-level repairs uses it.
