I preferred Scotch "magic" tape to match the matte finish.... However 
I just leave it off now, forever promising myself to install a jack 
for an external mic to avoid the disk noise transmitted through the 
case. Until that day (ha!) I just remove the mic from it's little 
cubby and with it's 1-2" wire holding it out, away from the case, 
record with much less disk noise. When you're done you can push it 
back in its little, rubber baby-buggy bumper home.
