Definitely not out of necessity, as the two 3400c's were in mint condition
then.  A few years back I happened to read by chance on O'Grady's PowerPage
that a supply of Kanga boards had become available at DT&T Macintosh
Services in Fremont, California.  By telephone I quickly grabbed two of
their twenty boards, which I understood sold out within hours.  I have
certainly enjoyed the speed enhancement, especially since my two units were
both 180MHz.
