As yet, there is no version of MacOS that will run natively on an x86. There is a version of Darwin that runs, but you almost might as well use some regular Unix or Linux.
There are some emulation-based solutions, however. The best in features and such is Basilisk II: http://basilisk2.cjb.net . It'll run in Windows and *nix, among others. The main caveat is it is limited to 68k emulation, as PPC emulation hasn't been realized yet (on PCs anyway, there is an Amiga PPC emulator). Still it's quite fast, supports Ethernet and the like, and runs up to MacOS 8.1, so it can be very handy. We may have covered this before, so excuse me for bringing this up again. Is it possible to run a Mac OS on a Windoze laptop? I remember something about the way the processors work differently that makes it impossible to run Mac OS...is this true? The reason I'm asking is that I noticed that even older Pentium 3's are going for a lot less money than really old Apple Powerbooks. If it is possible to interchange the OS's, what would be the best Mac OS to run on a Pentium based laptop? I would assume that Mac OS X would have no problem seeing that it is UNIX based, am I right in assuming this or is it just wishful thinking?
