There WAS a 28.8k modem for the 1xx series at one point.. I had a few hundred
of them once, and they were quite popular.. I think they were Global Village,
though one of the other groups (Zoom?) made one as well..
I know there is also a hacked GV 28.8 that will run 33.6, because I had one
in my trusty 170 for years.. I don't recall the model # unfortunately..
IMHO, the 1xx is still the most solid-built laptop in the history of laptops.
I had a family member in the several recent conflicts, serving in the armed
forces, and (several years back) according to him, the 160 & 170 were the
only laptops spec'd for communications tools, specifically because they could
withstand air drops for tank battallions without sustaining damage. Pretty
impressive for any laptop, in my opinion....
