Hmmm... Well, I don't know whether to agree with you or not about
not returning potential fire hazards under the recall.

What I can say is that my first adapter, the one that came with my
Wallstreet from Apple, bit the dust about a year after I bought it.
One day it was working fine, the next it made this faint "ticking"
noise and wouldn't power my laptop. I was kinda peeved since it was
out of warranty at this point. I paid the $75 or so for a
replacement that worked unfailingly until I sent it in under the
recall. FWIW, both adapters were HOT to the touch. In fact, on cold
winter nights, I occasionally used the power brick to warm my feet...
;-)

I HATE my yo-yos. I'm definitely more a fan of the 4402, and
sometimes I wish I had kept the working one. But then I think about
the dog I leave home while my Wallstreet is powered up and
unattended... Wouldn't want her to succumb in a burning apartment
along with all my other worldly possessions.

So it's a toss-up, I guess. If you are responsible with the 4402
adapter, I don't see any reason not to keep it and plenty of reasons
why you should avoid the yo-yo...

As for the 3400 v. Wallstreet serial number issue on Apple's website,
I'm not sure you have to call Apple. Did you try entering the serial
number of your 3400 in place of a Wallstreet's? Back when I first
brought this up on the list last summer, I remember lots of people
who had 3400s, Kangas, or 2400s with this same adapter and some talk
about whether or not Apple really cared about the Wallstreet serial
number. Anyone remember for sure?

Of course, calling should work all the same. ;-)

Peace,
Drew
