Just signed on here seeking some help. My partner and I just got a Powerbook 3400 for her son, to replace a PC laptop that was stolen and to get him into Mac. It was cheap, and she has a 3400c/200 which has 9.1 and all kinds of nice things, as we bought it used from a aound engineer who knows about these things. It is mainly for email an web for him while hge is in Australia for the next few months...
The new 3400 has OS 7.5.6, and no software or anything but the very basics. I went to load some things on it from my 9500/G3 via CDROM, and it won't read them - I'm wondering if installing a newer OS would be a good way to start? Should it be 8.1, 8.6, or 9.1? It reads commercial CDROMS fine, I did a Norton test and optimization on it. Tips, suggestions, help all welcome...
