Hey folks,
New here. I repair PBs (I own a Mac-only repair/service company)and
own a PB G3. I guess mine can be called a Wallstreet, but I ordered it
from apple with all the goodies months before it came out. Yes, I was
one of the lucky ones to get the royal shaft on the "DVD" drive that
did not play dvds but cost hundreds more. My grand total for the PB w/
the AppleCare was $4,994.00! Then one week after the apple care
expired, the LCD went and I took it to who I thought was an expert
(because Apple said they'd do it for the bargain price of $1100). The
"expert" told me that the LCD was fine (of course it was) and it was
the ribbon cable that was a mess. Unfortunately, he told me, the
ribbon cables are NOT sold separately, but they could do the repair for
$700 (what great guys!). I took it home and forgot about it. Now, I
repair these things for a living (usually PB G4s, iMacs, and
PowerMacs). I have never gotten around to my own machine. I just had
a business boom and now it is passing, so I wanted to put the new cable
in.

I am almost positive that it is the main left cable, but I haven't had
the screen frame apart yet. It is fine up until there. Does anyone
know the best place to get a cable. The place I found wanted $139.
That was just too much for my budget. My company sucks up any "extra"
money, if there ever is such a thing. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Jeff Wrobel
