Hi Donn -- Your statistics about the efficiency of various OS on a 5300 were both interesting and gratifying -- the last because it's always fun when somebody else does the tedious work required to bear out one of your own hunches. I recently downgraded from 8.5.1 to 7.5.5, (for reasons both boring and involuntary), and have since been wondering why it was necessary to be kicked into it. The 5300 now runs noticeably faster; in fact even though it still has the same conflicts with SpeedDoubler that plagued it previously (several applications, including SimpleText, bomb out on opening if SD is active), it's now at least as zippy *without* SD as it had been previously *with*. About the only OS 8.x bit that I miss (so far) is command-delete.
