That's debatable. I think smart copying was the best feature of Speed
Doubler. I held off upgrading my Mac to work to 8.6 until CopyAgent came
out, since Speed Doubler broke after OS 8.5.1.

Why is smart copying so useful. Well, if you're backing up a work files
from your hard drive to a network server or a Zip disk -- it only has to
move the files that are actually changed, not the entire folder. Can
reduce copy times by 80-90% for projects with lots and lots of file (oh,
like maybe a website) but not a lot of changes to most of them.

In fact, losing CopyAgent was one of my biggest drawbacks to upgrading to
OS X (and making my TiBook feel so much slower). Then I got an email from
the author of File Synchronization, and now I can live in OS X about 98%
of the time.
