A couple of things here that are related. While trying to get the
MV16-EN card working in a friend's 5300 (OS7.5.3), I downloaded the
drivers onto my iMac (OSX). Since the ethernet didn't work, the only
means I had to transfer the files was to use file sharing. However, I
had to put the Wallstreet (OS9.2.2) into the loop since it has a serial
port. I hooked up via ethernet to get the files to the WS, then I had
to switch over in AppleTalk to the serial port in order to talk to the
5300.
Question 1: is there a way to bridge that network so that the WS can
use both ethernet and serial at the same time?
Question 2: what specifically do I need to set in order to use this
card? We did a clean install of 7.6.1 to the 5300 and then ran the
installer for the Focus card, but actually trying to do anything that
requires ethernet freezes the computer. For instance, switching the
AppleTalk to ethernet, or connecting vie IE 4.5 or even iCab if TCP/IP
is set to ethernet (DHCP if that matters).
